The vCenter Server upgrade is subject to the upgrade matrix from vCenter Server 6.5.x to 7.0.x release line.Please see the Knowledge Base article for further details. If you cannot upgrade, we advise that you maintain the browser compatibility for vSphere 6.5 Adobe Flash Client in your environment.

For hosts managed by vCenter Server for Windows (in order to be able to use VMware Update Manager for subsequent upgrade of ESXi), you need to upgrade vCenter Server to 6.7 Patch 05 or later.

For hosts managed by vCenter Server Appliance, you need to upgrade vCenter Server to 6.7 Update 3 or later (to get feature parity of HTML5 UI).

vCenter Server 6.7 uses the HTML5-based web client as compared to Adobe Flash client in vCenter Server 6.5. We recommend that you upgrade vCenter Server 6.5 instances to vCenter Server 6.7 and manage the ESXi 6.5 hosts using the upgraded vCenter Server 6.7 instances.
